I appreciate a place with flowers and plants. I have recently started to "collect" plants. And I know my mother always had plants and flowers in the house. With that, I sometimes feel a connection between nature and Suriname. Where nature prevails a large part of the country. And to have that at home just makes the distance between home here and Suriname a lot smaller. And I know that when I visit people's homes or enter certain places and I see plants or flowers, it just creates a somewhat homely feeling.

Whether it's the late 1990s, early 2000s or now. I think I will always appreciate these devices, I used to be used to my mother using her old cameras to capture things, mainly her outfits. And my dad mostly capturing moments with old video recorders. And that we always watched parties back on our video cassette player. It reminds me of the old days and my childhood and the house I grew up in. I think I'll just start saving them myself so I can capture my children in the same way later on. For me it's kind of replicating a home feeling by taking it with me into my own future.

An appreciation for black art in all forms. I would also like to support black artists later on by buying their art, paintings, photo prints. I appreciate it when I walk into a space and I see black art, because I used to miss it when I entered certain spaces. And now you see it more and more and myself I really enjoy making my own paintings, both digital and physical. It makes me feel like my skin color is appreciated in the space, or that it's seen, admired. And that's important to me because it will most likely make me feel a little more at home.
